  • 1 whole fryer chicken, cut up
  • Canola oil for frying
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 tbs garlic powder
  • 1 tbs salt
  • 1 tbs pepper
  1. Cut up the chicken and place into a bowl. Pour the buttermilk on top, then allow to marinate in the refrigerator for a few hours.
  2. Add the garlic, salt, and pepper to the flour, then mix thoroughly.
  3. Pour oil into pan and then heat to 360 degrees.
  4. Remove marinated chicken from the fridge. Dredge all pieces with the spiced flour until fully coated. Gently place each piece into the hot frying pan. Only fry as much as will fit without over crowding.
  5. Fry on one side, then turn over and fry other side until golden brown.
  6. When all pieces are fried, bake chicken in the oven at 350 degrees until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
  7. Remove from oven, tent with foil, then allow to rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
